Doodles from Rajasthan

Image
Doodles from Rajasthan  Rajasthan, the land of Kings has always intrigued me. Its vibrant colours, pulsating people, exquisite handicraft, folklore and the never ending sand dunes. Even though I have traveled a lot into the vivid land, it still calls me for more. It's haunting beauty never fails to attract me. The contrasting hues always made me more interested in it's heritage. The simple, elegant beauty of the palaces and the confined lives of many in them. The panoramic sand dunes and the harsh living conditions. The barrenness and richly carved structures stand as a witness to the bygone era. Through my travel into the hearts of Jaisalmer and Bikaner I came across many unknown yet interesting faces. Some were obliging enough to strike a pose in front of my camera. Other simply shrugged and went away. It's the ones who went away indifferently etched something in mind. While travelling back home I made it a point to squiggle  something on a rough shee...

Dark Shadows

Image
Dark Shadows Being a big Johnny Depp and Tim Burton fan, it was a conspicuous decision to watch Dark Shadows. I could possibly sit and stare at him for hours regardless of whether the film had a script or not.  Both of them team up yet again to create a mood of satire and some ghostly fun. There isn’t too much darkness in dark shadows yet some ‘refined’ one liners, some even making you look for a dictionary!  While there are elements of comedy about a vampire lost in time, Tim Burton is busy constructing an elaborate spoof of a gothic melodrama to really develop that thread. The movie wears its ridiculousness on its sleeve  and even has an amusing mix of Science. Barnabus, the ghostly protagonist goes through a blood transfusion to cure him of his’ Vampirism’. There are too many ...

Mood Swings

Image
Mood Swings There comes a time when inspite of everything going right in one's life, a feeling of extreme solitude  takes over. The source or the reason for this feeling remains somewhat unexplained. Endless cups of black coffee fails to bolster up the mood. It so happened that one of these days I got a bout of 'gloominess' and 'ohh my God where is my life going?'. Usually a very buoyant person, the gloom factor has always made me irritable. I had to shrug it off ASAP. I tried picking up a book to read, ended up just flipping through the pages aimlessly. Made an attempt to cook, with the end result of some burnt toast and tasteless eggs ! Flipped through television channels only  to find a mother in law throwing brickbats at her daughter in law. Other channels weren't of any respite either. I managed to find some horoscope readers, telemarketers and IPL commentaries.  Sitting still wasn't a trait that I was particularly proud of. N ot able to ...

Imagination unbound !

Image
This is a picture which I randomly took while playing with children of my class ( Nursery). It took the fancy of the administration and was made into a poster. This picture was also presented to the Reggio Emilia school in Italy. Just thought of sharing it. :)
